TAHMO participated in the ICCP Africa Workshop 2026 at the University of Nairobi
Victor Omoti participated in the ICCP Africa Workshop 2026 at the University of Nairobi, representing the Trans-African Hydro-Meteorological Observatory (TAHMO) alongside colleague, Jacob Ogongo.
The workshop brought together scientists, researchers, students and operational practitioners from across Africa and beyond to discuss the future of research and applications related to clouds, precipitation and extreme weather.
One of the highlights was demonstrating 3D-PAWS through a practical, hands-on session. It was a great opportunity to share knowledge and demonstrate how accessible observation technologies can support weather and climate services.
TAHMO also had the opportunity to present its weather station as an alternative low-cost observation solution. Today, TAHMO has deployed more than 700 weather stations across 24 African countries, contributing to the expansion of weather observation networks and the availability of weather data across the continent.
We are delighted to continue this work and to collaborate with meteorological agencies, universities, researchers and partners across Africa. Through stronger partnerships, shared expertise and innovative solutions, we can work towards a better-monitored Africa and strengthen our ability to understand and respond to weather and climate risks.
