Marieke de Groen

Dr.Ir. Marieke de Groen is owner-director of AquaLinks (www.aqualinks.co.za) which focuses on linking water engineering and research to water management in Southern Africa. She is based in Johannesburg since 2009, as a consultant in water management in the region. She did her PhD research related to limited climate data (2002, TU Delft and UNESCO-IHE) based on an internship at the Department of Water Resources in Zimbabwe in 1995-1997. Since February 2017, she is involved in rolling out the TAHMO initiative in South Africa, starting with a ‘proof of concept’ in Johannesburg. Therewith she is testing TAHMO use for urban water management and climate awareness in cities and using Johannesburg as a gateway to investors/insurers/funders in Southern Africa.
